I am the eldest sitesr of our beloved Charles Hiawatha Butler Jr. We are proud of our Charles for so many reasons; his positive attitude, warm smile, his gentleness, his love for his family and his recent accomplishment-his certification as a Merchant Seaman. I always reminded him that he needed to give something back. We had no previous knowledge that Charles was an organ donor until the day of his demise. He had already made a choice to save lives years earlier-giving something back. While we, as his family saw him in the ER, tubes everywhere, his head swollen beyond recognition due to the bullet lodged in his head we knew that our Charles would never physically be with us ever again-There is no way anyone can understand what it is like to lose someone like that. But one can understand what it is like to know that your lost loved one saved lives even in death. Although the Butler Family will forever mourne the death of Charles we can rejoice and embrace him as a hero because the organs he gave gives life to generations. We thank you for giving recognition to our beloved Charles Hiawatha Butler Jr.
