G.O.O.D. Music artists Pusha T and Cyhi Da Prynce graced the DMV with their presence for the Heineken Red Star Access Tour. This event was an intimate evening of good hip-hop music hosted by the beautiful Adrienne Bailon (who is also sweet as pie!) The only way to score tickets was by following @DCtoBC on Twitter who gave away 100 tickets to select individuals. Every ticket winner was also allowed to bring a guest and was treated to delicious light fare and free Heineken all night!
The evening was fantastic and Heineken allowed guests to take as many pictures and videos as we’d like. So here’s a video of Pusha T performing “So Appalled” “Popular Demand” and “Grindin”.
My friend Mercy, PR Consultant extraordinaire for Beny Blaq Entertainment send this flyer over for their running series The @ttic, at Station 9.
This week’s poet is Georgia Me, who appeared on all six seasons of Def Poetry. In celebration of Women’s History Month, this one will feature special guests Theresa Tha S.o.n.g.B.i.r.d, Talia, Anomaly, Maha Adachi, Tasha Jones, and M’Reld. The evening will be hosted by Ingrid B and co-hosted by Rebecca Dupas, with DJ Gemz, on the ones and twos.
Hey wassup it’s your girl ReneeWoods and I thought I would show everyone the flyer I saw that made me want to go to the 9:30 Club on Saturday, September 26. 2009. Now, let me state the only artists on this flyer that actually performed were XO (who gave a good show and brought the rest of Diamond District out to perform) and Kingpen Slim (who also gave a good show). Now if that ain’t some bullsh*t then I don’t know what is!
Early on Saturday through TwitterI did learn that some of the artists listed on the flyer were not performing, so I went to the 9:30 Clubwebsite and saw that Bun B, Kingpen Slim, and Phil Ade (his record label’s website also said he’d be there) were on the show so I still wanted to go. But somehow of these three only Kingpen Slim performed. Now let me state some of the artists that performed were good but that’s not what we paid for. So, clearly this was a false flyer with some false *ss advertising! The promotion for this event sucked *ss. Crabzinabarrel.com does not blame any of the artists we are upset with how the event was promoted.
Now honestly the entire night I just knew Bun B was about to come out but instead it was another act that wasn’t on this flyer or the 9:30 Club website. And why the f*ck was it called the DMV South takeover?? There was no Lil Jon, Trillville, Yung Dro, Plies, T-Pain, SLim Thug, etc. etc. etc. etc. and there d*mn sure wasn’t no Bun B! Before I finish this post I have one more question… why was Tabi Bonney’s picture next to Phil Ade’s name on the 9:30 Club website??? They don’t even look alike! The following is a picture of that nonsense from their website.
The crabzinabarrel.com family still got a few pics of some of the artists that were there and Nonchalant was in the building ( that was pretty cool 🙂 ) peep the pics below. And oh yeah we also got some video footage (with Urbansocialight commenting in the background) of some disgruntled customers at the end of the night so peep that as well. Update: The Washington Post, said that 9:30 Club is working on giving us two free tickets and refunds!!
I don’t have to tell you. You can that your dollar just doesn’t get you as much as it used to anymore. Well, CrabzInaBarrel is going to tell you exactly how to make the dollar stretch and still have a good time.

If you’re in the DMV area Crystal City check out Crystal Screen every Monday at Sunset showing the classic action movies from now until October 20th. Click here for details.
Free Movies: If you must see the new movie, why not try a movie site like tvshack.net, where you can see new TV shows and movies for nada. With a great selection of movies and shows, it won’t be long before the Feds shut it down so enjoy it while you can.
Event: Want a night out on the town for FREE? Why not check out two of the hottest to rappers in the DMV right now. Phil Ade & RAtheMC “He Said, She Said” Live performance tonight, Aug. 28, 09 at Palace Five (2220 14th St. NW, Washington DC)
The Arts: Want to seem cultured to your new boo? Well, DC has a great selection of free museums to take advantage of. The Corcoran Gallery of Art is also ditching the admission fee for Saturday’s until Labor Day, so take advantage of it before it’s gone for more info click here.
Free drinks?? Wine is the old school get right. Many wine shops and small eateries have wine tastings once a week. The Tivoli in Ballston, VA near to my job has one every Friday. Plus you can get great bottle of wine for less than $10!
Cheap drinks?? Local bars, restaurants and pubs are always coming up with promotions to bring in customers, so don’t be afraid to take full advantage. Rock Bottom Grill, also in Ballston, has $2 pints of handcrafted, fresh brewed beer on Wednesday nights. It makes me sad I don’t drink beer every week. Since we don’t condone drinking and driving it’s worth noting that oth locations are Metro accessible, so you can drink then sober up on the Metro.
Adult Swim: On Sundays Capitol Skyline Hotel Pool offers (10 Eye Street, SW). That $10 get you a relaxing dip in the pool and burgers. Yummy. (via DCFab)
