What’s good y’all. Last week Crabzinabarrel.com was at the Cool Kids Forever video release party and had the chance to run into RAtheMC. Fresh off her Heart of a Champion LP, RAtheMC was kind enough to share some words with us and answer a few questions. Check out our exclusive interview below!!!!!
The Crabzinabarrel.com fam hit up the CKF Films Release event which went down at the U St. corridor hot spot Policy. The red carpet was on fire with some appearances from some the DMV’s hottest artists including Tre of UCB, Fattrel, Phil Ade, RatheMC , Gordo Brega and Uptown X.O. The party was on CP time and was supposed to begin at 8pm but when we arrived at 9:30pm not many people were there. Since we’ve all still got day jobs, we could only stick around until 11:30pm and videos had not been shown yet. We’re sure they were great. Shouts to Backie for the personal invite.
Fresh off the plane from the Motherland, I made my way to the listening party for our girl RAtheMC and her new LP “Heart of a Champion”. I have to say I’m in love with the new project. RA is now down with the Studio 43movement and it seems like a match made in hip-hop heaven. Her slick rhymes over AB the PRO beats are magic! Not only does she give us the hard hitting verses of hip-hop veteran but she sings like a hummingbird in spring. Before the end of the night I knew all the words to chorus of “One Shot”. It’s sort of addictive.
“Heart of a Champion” just dropped Tuesday on DJBooth.net and has already garnished features on Washingtonpost.comand ABC 7’swebsite. Not to mention RA had the honor of performing with the legend Nas on Sunday night. The CNB fam has been following her for a long time and is really proud to see her come so far!
Be sure to download the mixtapeand support RAtheMC! Follow her on Twitter @RAtheMC and #HeartofaChampion!!

Wassup crabzinabarrel.com world it’s your girl ReneeWoods and I went to the He Said She Said event last night and yall can tell everyone that ReneeWoods said the show was dope!!!!!!!!!!!Now I’m going to be real with yall and state I was almost going to leave when I arrived at Palace Five at 9:00 pm and there wasn’t anyone performing. But I stood outside, and waited, and waited, contemplated going to Busboys and Poets for a bit, then waited some more. Then finally I went inside and around 10:00 PM RAtheMC (http://www.myspace.com/simplyra) started performing with Mz Mimz (http://www.myspace.com/mzmimz) and honestly it was worth the da*n wait. Sidenote: Peep the video below of her perfoming. After RAtheMC’s performance was over it wasn’t too long before Phil Ade ( http://www.myspace.com/philade301) was on stage rocking the crowd with songs from his mixtape ” Starting on JV.” Once again it was worth the da*n wait and the best part about this EXCELLENT show is it was FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Now I have been to shows that costed me my hard earned money that I didn’t have that weren’t as good as this one. Peep the pics and video footage that El Solo Dolo got for your viewing pleasure.
Let me say RatheMC was the first artist from the DMV that made me follow the DMV music scene. When I heard her rap I had to find more music on her. Check out her blog at RAtheMC.com and her myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/simplyra .
