Judah “The Art” | Amber Rose Instrumental

By Urbansocialight

We ♥ Judah.  Our very first interview was with the DMV’s own super producer Judah and it was awesome…Too bad, it never saw the light of day (technical difficulties).  Judah was also my partner in crime in SXSW 2009..good times.

Judah’s making major moves this year, starting with the Amber Rose Instrumentals.  If you didn’t download it when we posted it the first time, download it now!

Now he’s released a video featuring some of the beats from the tape.  Let me tell you early, this video is so GREAT!  It’s smart and well thought out and visually stimulating.  I love and you will too!  Enjoy!!

By Urbansocialight

One of the original crabz that we’ve wanted to blow XO just dropped his third video of the album ONE ONE TEN.  I’m in love the with video! It’s shot in the streets of the D.C. and is really visually stimulating, it keeps you watching! Shouts to Studio 43 and 1st Impression for this one.   Good look…no GREAT LOOK!  In case you haven’t already: Download XO-ONE ONE TEN.

Monica in McQueen

By Manda J

Monica’s newest video “Everything to Me” has clothes that look like they came straight off the runway…in fact they did. In the video Monica is wearing a houndstooth shirt from the late Alexander McQueen’s RTW fall 2009 line. In that line the shirt Monica is wearing was actually a dress, tailored into a shirt and the chicness is still the same. The shoulder flower may seem like a bit much, but with her slick hair and minimal accessories the flower becomes the accessory. The different size pattern also makes a difference. The pattern is widest around her arms and smaller around her face. That helps the print to not seem overwhelming.

The red dress is also by McQueen. The dress is pretty basic, but the shoulder detail and back bustle steps it up. In this video Monica went for classy and sophistication and I think she achieved it. *RIP Alexander McQueen*

Enjoy the video!

Luegar- Work

By Urbansocialight

Luegar

I’ve been trying to post this video for “Work” by Luegar for over a month now, but I couldn’t figure out how the hell to get Vimeo videos to play in wordpress!  So after three attempts today alone, I think I figured it out.

For those of you who don’t know who Luegar is, you’ve been sleeping.  He’s been in the game since 1998.  You may remember last year’s smash “Weekend Girl” which was pumping on every radio station in the DMV.  ‘Weekend Girl” aside, “Work” is one of my favorite tracks from Luegar’s mixtape “The New DC” (which is still available on his myspace here).  It’s that dope boy music that I love to hear.  The video is directed by 6ix of Cool Kids Forever Films, who has been the brains behind most of the videos in the DMV for years.

Luegar is releasing his new project Total Package before the end of the year and I can’t wait!  He is a total package… Everyone knows, Ladies Love Luegar…and I’m no exception 🙂

Katrina Bello’s cover of India Arie’s “The Truth”

Hey Crabzinabarrel world!!!! I was trying to give you Katrina Bello’s cover of Keri Hilson’s “Knock You Down” but the audio on that video has been set to the original song. Even though I didn’t see it I am sure she sounded better than Keri Hilson. Although I am a fan of Keri Hilson I have seen her live once and I had to walk away just so my ears would not go out on me. She is a good writer but singing is not her talent. I aint mad at her though because if I was a successful songwriter and people kept getting famous off of my songs I would sing my own shit too.  Anyways please check out Katrina Bello’s cover of India Arie’s “The Truth.” You should also check out her myspace at http://www.myspace.com/katrinabello.

El Solo Dolo

Above The Rim Soundtrack

I just got done listening to the Above the Rim soundtrack and forgot how good it was. The soundtrack had everything from SWV to Tupac on it. My favorite songs on the soundtrack were “Pour Out A Little Liquior” and “Big Pimpin.” Hip Hop aint like it used to be. Man I miss that era when there were more artists doing them and not copying the next man. Nowadays you got artists trying to do the same thing as the next man.
