Peep toe boots are the oxymoron of the fashion world. The initial point of a boot in the fall and wintertime is to protect your feet from the elements, but how are you going to protect your toe if it’s exposed? For those of you who (like me) live by the creed “FASHION over FUNCTION”, this minor detail doesn’t matter. Many designers and celebrities have taken a winter boot an turned it into a summer shoe by exposing the toe.

Solange is wearing Chanel (I ♥♥♥ Chanel) peep toe booties. The intricate woven pattern is simple and classic all at the same time. Rihanna is wearing lace up Miu Miu peep toe boots with a slight platform front. The boots have a tennis shoe appearance from the front thanks to the lace up ties. The Miu Miu boots don’t look as dressy as the Chanel boots, but they are just as haute.

To achieve this look that can carry you into the fall try Steve Madden or Go Jane. Go Jane makes affordable pair for the Chanel-esque look for $39.90. Steve Madden makes a nice buckle open toe shoe that retails for $49.99. If you are one of the few that are concerned with your feet actually getting cold pair the peep toe booties with a nice opaque tight in black or navy. Don’t be scared of colored tights. Done right colored tights can make the outfit.

Today’s “Belong in the damn barrel” post is a little different. A song is getting put in the barrel. LOL :)? Is that a lyric? Music is getting completely out of hand! This bojangling coonery and buffoonery that is perpetrating itself as music belongs in a damn barrel! First of all, who decided it was smart idea to make an R&B song to the melody of a children’s song? I remember singing that song Frere Jacques in preschool. Now Trey Songz has turned an innocent childhood tune into an immature sex song. “Shorty just text me, says she want to sex me, Shorty sent a twitpic saying come and get this.”

Trey Songz was born in ’84 which makes him too old to think a song like this is acceptable. Plus, lol is so 1998. He’s not even using the good internet slang like ROTFLMAO (Rolling On The Floor Laughing My Ass Off) or GNR (Gotta N*gga Rolling) or IRNLJCTOAE2S (I’m Really Not Laughing Just Can’t Think Of Anything Else To Say). I can let Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane slide on this since neither of them have ever made a song with anything that could ever be considered profound or insightful. It’s Trey I’m concerned about. I used to be a fan, but I’m not so sure now.

Hey crabzinabarrel.com world Happy Miserable Monday!!!!!!!! It’s your girl ReneeWoods and some members of the crabzinabarrel.com family went to The Circus at the Expo on Saturday, August 22, 2009.  The lineup included the following acts: ZXL ( http://www.myspace.com/zxlmusic) , Mindsone (http://www.myspace.com/mindsone), Ndelible ( http://www.myspace.com/ndelible) , Lauren Schreiber (http://www.m yspace.com/food4theory), PHZ-Sicks (http://www.myspace.com/phzsicks1), and the Five One Band ( http://www.myspace.com/officialfiveone).  I have to be honest with everyone and state I almost didn’t make it out the house with all that drizzle and nonsense that was going on because I didn’t want to sweat out my natural short hair lol.  The show was EXCELLENT and there are more pics of the artists that performed at The Circus and video footage of Ndelible, Lauren Schreiber, and PHZ-Sicks when you read the rest of the entry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you all haven’t checked out Hov’s new video Run This Town featuring Rihanna and Kanye West here it is. I love the concept of the video, but I think Jigga needs to step his lyrics up a little bit more. Here’s another example of someone ripping him on his own track. Hov’s 2 talented for another artists to rip him on his own stuff.  Also, what’s with all the features on BP3. I hope the CD is something great because he spent almost a whole year making it. Coming September 11th we will all see if Jay can make another classic.

Bay Area’s own ,Damey, who is also know for his work with his group The Diligentz has began a solo career while still staying true to his group members and himself. Damey recently came out with a new single ‘Burgundy Sky’. He has also shot a video in a place most people like to call home , The Bay Area. He has been featured on multiple songs like, I’m famous (remix), SEF’s Go get it, Jay Ant’s Some1 like me and more. Damey works to inspire and encourage others to speak their truth and their mind. Numerous artist and designers have taken a military staple and turned it into a wardrobe staple. The King of Pop has worn numerous military inspired jackets made from such materials as leather and sequins. Rihanna and Beyoncé choose to rock military inspired jackets by Balmain.

Beyoncé’s silver and black jacket puts a new spin on the evening jacket for the younger generation but would cost you almost $12,000. Not very recession friendly. Rihanna (who can do no wrong in my eyes) is doing her part to bring denim jackets back to the forefront in fashion. Even the men are getting in on this trend. Kanye is wearing a vintage military jacket. For those who can’t foresee themselves dishing out mad money for a Balmain jacket check out Target or this jacket from Alloy that will only run you $50.
